About Us

The Oromahoe Trust is the administration unit created out of the amalgamation of several land blocks (Oromahoe 18R2B2B2) totaling 1008.165 hectares in and around Oromahoe. The story of Oromahoe concerns a legacy of management and resource development issues that our Trust, the Oromahoe Trust has faced and continues to face in light of a 'history' with the government's Maori Affairs Department and before them, the Maori Land Court. Through the country Maori land development has been a complex matter, economically, administratively and politically, and Oromahoe has been no different from countless other cases.* Over the last few decades, the descendants of Oromahoe have their ancestors' lands into a viable business in attempt to meet the social and economic needs of the community. The Trust was successful in repaying the hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt created not by the descendants, but by the Maori Affairs Department in 'looking after' local interests.
